Breed information and guides on all key types and varieties of spaniel dogs (including small and medium sized). According the UK Kennel Club there are 12 types of spaniel breeds including Cocker Spaniel, Springer Spaniel, Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, King Charles Spaniel, Clumber Spaniel, American Cocker Spaniel, American Water Spaniel, Field Spaniel, Sussex Spaniel, Welsh Springer, Irish Water and Boykin Spaniel. We also include some of the most popular spaniel cross breeds. The most popular includes Cockapoo and Cavapoos.

Spaniels are one of the most popular type of gun dog breed particularly Cocker Spaniels and Springer Spaniels. They are often used to hunt for birds under cover, and then flush them (prompt the birds to fly) for the gun to shoot. Whilst confusing there are certain types of dogs that are named as spaniels but are not technically the same family as those above examples include Brittany (L’épagneul Breton to the French!) and Tibetan Spaniels.
